Million tonnes

80 million tonnes of crop residue is burnt in India. The emission from crop burning is 17 times more than the total annual particulate pollution from all sources. Crop burning is a critical determinant of air pollution in the whole of India. Living in Delhi is like smoking 18 cigarettes a day because of the air pollution.
